A babysitter in Indiana is currently being investigated by the state’s Department of Child Services after a video of her putting a 7-month-old baby under a water dump bucket went viral earlier this week.
Originally posted to Facebook by Desiree Howell, a mother who was at the Greenwood splash pad with her children at the time, the baby can be seen shaking and screaming after the water hits her and the babysitter takes her away. Howell said she saw the babysitter place the infant under the large bucket multiple times; and she called the police out of fear for the child’s safety. She took the video while waiting for officers to arrive.
In the comment section of the post, Howell also claimed that the babysitter forced the infant to walk barefoot on the hot ground; took her on the swings and went so high that the baby was being “jerked”; and sat her down in an area of the splash pad where water comes out of the ground so that it would repeatedly hit her in the face.
According to the Facebook post, Howell hoped that by posting the video to social media she could find out the identity of the babysitter and find the baby’s mother — and within a couple hours, she did.
THIS IS THE WOMAN:
“I was literally hysterically crying,” the baby’s mother, Brittany Dixson, told IndyStar. “I was shaking.”
Dixson reportedly then picked up her daughter, Annora Anderson, and fired the babysitter. After taking the baby to the doctor, she was told that even though Annora was fine, she might have experienced a “dry drowning.”
At this time, the babysitter has not been arrested; but a representative for the Greenwood Police Department said the case has been sent to the Indiana Department of Child Services for further investigation.
