The Genius Reason Why Women Should Start Shaving Your Faces (VIDEO)

Blogger Huda Kattan is sharing another one of her beauty secrets: She shaves her face. The Dubai-based makeup expert always comes up with clever beauty ideas, and now she broke down the benefits of taking a razor to your face.

“Yes, you get rid of peach fuzz, but you also help exfoliate your skin,” Kattan explains. “Makeup application becomes so much more beautiful when you start doing it.” The beauty entrepreneur also confessed to shaving some of her clients before she applies their makeup.

Kattan uses a straight-blade razor to remove tiny strands around her hairline in a light upward motion. But you can also use this technique around brows and on your chin. During the demo, she suggests holding the skin taut to get the best results. In the first clip, Kattan jokingly uses a regular razor with a bunch of shaving cream smoothed over her face, but she revealed that dry skin is key to her shaving routine. “When you wet your face, I just feel like it grows in so much thicker,” she says. That’s definitely a rumor we’ve heard before, so we turned to David Stoll, M.D., a dermatologist in Beverly Hills, to find out more.

According to Stoll, there’s no evidence to support that your hair grows back thicker after shaving (consider that myth busted). However, the skin expert says that there are other exfoliation alternatives to shaving your face. “A chemical peel will work just as well if not better,”  So while Kattan’s shaving trick is effective at removing super fine facial hair, it’s not necessarily an all-around skin fix. “It may make the skin feel smoother by removing some dead cells on the surface, but it is not an anti-aging procedure,” says Stoll.

If you’re curious to see how it’s done, watch Kattan’s face-shaving tutorial below.
