What happens when you wear 100 layers of foundation on your face at one time? Swedish blogger Josefin Lillakas knows the answer. The vlogging star is known as Jeely on YouTube, and her channel is filled with fun fashion and style videos. This time Jeely courageously tested an absurd amount of L’Oréal True Match foundation on her face and recorded the insane makeup challenge for us all to enjoy.
In the video, the first layer looked beautiful, but every drop after that made her look more and more like Data from Star Trek. By the time she reached 20 layers, it was tough to see her skin underneath the caked on product. And once Jeely reached 40 layers it looked as if she was going to give up. Her skin looked insanely greasy and clogged, but she kept going. Before adding on more layers, Jeely had to take out a blow dryer to help the oily mask dry faster. Then she took her sponge out and kept on going.
Watching the video will literally make you want to wash your face. Too much makeup is known to clog pores, and Jeely’s experiment looked like it was seconds away from causing her skin to break out. But her complexion was able to handle the excess foundation. After three diligent hours, she completed the 100-layer challenge.
This isn’t the first time that Jeely has experimented with beauty products by piling on the layers. Before the foundation video, she tested out 100 layers of mascara, and it was just as messy as it sounds. Other bloggers are also getting in on the layering challenge. They’re testing the limits of everything from 100 layers of nail polish to 100 layers of liquid lipstick. It’s an insane concept, but it does make for an entertaining video.
