This is a sad day for Victoria’s Secret fans. According to Fashionista the brand confirmed that it will stop selling clothes, accessories, shoes, swimwear, and all categories that are only sold online and in specialty stores. It’s an attempt to streamline the company’s focus and put more energy into its core businesses: Victoria’s Secret Lingerie, Pink, and Victoria’s Secret Beauty.
Back in April we learned that Victoria’s Secret would soon eliminate all swimwear, but this update confirmed our worst fears: Those sultry sundresses and beach-ready sandals on Victoria’s Secret’s website are also about to become a thing of the past. This is a big deal not only for the fans, but also for the lingerie store and its parent company L Brands. Those items accounted for nearly $525 million in sales, and the drastic changes also led to approximately 290 layoffs.
In addition to getting rid of swim, apparel, and accessories, Victoria Secret has cut back on the circulation of its wildly iconic catalog. The brand stopped delivering the glossy page-turner to customers in certain cities for a year, and the results proved that the mailer wasn’t making a significant impact on sales.
And the cutbacks, didn’t stop there. Victoria’s Secret is also planning to scale back on promotions. This could possibly be the end of getting those free panty coupons delivered to our mailboxes. Who knows what will happen as the company continues to revamp throughout the year? It might sound a little depressing, but there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. Victoria’s Secret’s website is already offering great price cuts on the swim, clothing, and accessories categories that the company is getting rid of. So, you might want to pick up a few things before it’s too late. We’ve gathered some of our favorite items to shop below before we say farewell.
