When Australian Mom and fitness Instagrammer Revie Jane Schulz gave birth to her daughter Lexington five months ago, she was candid with her 135,000 Instagram followers about having a tough time feeling comfortable in her own skin. Now, several months on, the 25-year-old is sharing an honest update with her fans about her journey to self-acceptance.
Six weeks after Lexington’s birth, Schulz opened up a conversation with followers about body image when she shared that she found herself “feeling sad when clutching the loose skin [on my belly] that was once tight, unmarked and toned.” She went on to remind fans that it’s perfectly okay to feel this way after going through such a major physical experience. “I tried to embrace and remind myself what it was all for but am left feeling so self-conscious,” she revealed.
Last week, as her daughter reached five months old, Schulz shared an encouraging update on body acceptance. In a before and after series of photos, Schulz featured a picture of herself at 21 weeks pregnant next to another of her at 37 weeks pregnant. The images were completed by another of Schulz in the present day, holding her daughter. Her accompanying words are totally inspirational. “The female body is seriously amazeballs,” she wrote in the post’s caption. “I STILL can’t believe I grew a human, the sweetest little human I could have ever dreamed up—baked for 41 weeks and 3 days right there in my belly,” she shared, before getting real about postpartum body image. “I remember just after having Lex I still looked about 6 months pregnant,” Schulz revealed. “Despite trying to convince myself that it will go back down, inside I believed my tummy would stay that way forever…In hindsight, yes, a bit of patience would have come in handy.”
