My Sweat Life blogger Kelsey Wells has spent a year and a half doing Kayla Itsines’s BBG program, and she has the results to show for it. But if you think that she’s hung up about how much she weighs, you’re so wrong.
In an Instagram post today, Wells shared three different photos of herself at three different weights: 145 pounds, 122 pounds, and 140 pounds. In the most recent shot, at 140 pounds, she looks much more fit, with more muscle definition, than she does at 122 pounds, though in both photos, she looks equally slim.
“I figured it was time for a friendly, yet firm reminder,” she wrote in the post. “YOU GUYS. PLEASE STOP GETTING HUNG UP ON THE NUMBER ON THE STUPUD SCALE! PLEASE STOP THINKING YOUR WEIGHT EQUALS YOUR PROGRESS AND FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING PLEASE STOP LETTING YOR WEIGHT HAVE ANY AFFECT WHATSOEVER ON YOUR SELF ESTEEM, like I used to.”
She continued her impassioned plea by giving a testimonial about her own experience. Wells shares that she is currently 140 pounds at 5-foot-7 tall. That’s only five pounds less than when she started the BBG program — and that was just eights weeks after she had given birth.
“I weighed 130 before getting pregnant, so based on nothing besides my own warped perception, I decided my ‘goal weight’ should be 122 and to fit into my skinniest jeans,” Wells wrote.
She got to her goal weight after a few months, but has since gained 18 pounds and gone from being a size zero to a size four.
“THANK GOODNESS I finally learned to start measuring my progress by things that matter — strength, ability, endurance, health, and HAPPINESS,” she wrote. “I have never had more muscle and less body fat than I do now. I have never been healthier than I am now. I have never been more comfortable in my own skin than I am now. And if I didn’t say [forget the scale] long ago, I would have gave up on my journey.”
