Carl Moore moved to the Richmond Virginia  area more than a month ago. After a failed relationship, he found himself and his six kids out in the elements Monday afternoon.

Moore’s daughter suffered a panic attack and that’s how he got in contact with the first responders.

“They were outstanding people, they were compassionate and loving,” said Moore.
Moore cried tears of joy as Henrico police delivered food gift cards to his family. Moore and his six kids haven’t had a meal since Monday night.

The disabled, single father of six fled a rough neighborhood in Chesapeake  Virginia in search of a better community for his kids. Now he’s hearing if he doesn’t get his act together fast, Richmond may be the end of the road.

“If I don’t find something soon, they’re talking about taking my kids away from me,” said Moore. “I’ve had them for the last 11 to 12 years of my life. I can’t imagine my life without my kids; they are all I have and all I know. I’ve made mistakes but I can’t bear to see them take my kids from me.”
Police are trying to help prevent that fate. Officers and firefighters are getting resources together to help get Moore and his kids food, clothing and shelter.
