For years now, Schools Financial Credit Union has let new parents bring their new babies to work, every single day, until they turn six months old or start crawling, WXIA-TV reports.
Since 2001, the company has welcomed 130 babies in its program. And not only women have taken advantage of it; one out of five participants have been new dads.
“We know going in the employee is not going to be 100 percent productive,” Lisa Mackay, the company’s VP of human resources, told the network. “That is just part of the program, and it’s part of the intention of the program. It’s not a problem.”
Alyssa Palomino, a new mom of twins, said the program was one of the main reasons why she took the job at the credit union. “I knew we were going to start a family at some point, and a huge benefit was being able to bring our babies to work for six months,” she said. “At least I can have them with me – it takes the pressure off mom returning to work.”
