How many times have you purchased a rock hard avocado, waited a week, and then went to eat it and it was, improbably, even harder than when you purchased it? And then you waited another week, and it’s gone all soft and mushy and brown! Well, that’s the story of my avocado-purchasing life, and I’m through with it!
So when I first heard about the 10-minute avocado ripening hack, I got very excited. It’s super simple: you just tightly wrap an avocado in foil and bake it at 200 F (93 C) for 10 minutes. Then, you peel off the foil and skin, and chow down on the Lord’s greatest gift.
Over at BuzzFeed, they tested the method and it worked! Well, pretty much. The avocado was a little softer than a naturally ripened avocado around the edges, but that’s fine! Your guacamole won’t know the difference! Most importantly, the avocado didn’t get hot, which would’ve been the nastiest thing. I can’t think of anything grosser than a hot, goopy avocado.
Now, let us all rejoice for we never have to be without avocados ever again in our little lives, and for that, we must celebrate! (By eating avocados, duh.)
